Krakow - University Worlds!

Well i have finally had some time to sit down and blog, its been a week or two since my last post so ill try and bring you up to speed.

Last week was spent in Oetz Austria, one of the best places i have been so far. It was so beautiful and the river was quite challenging. Most days were spent paddling and then hanging around at the local cafe having typical Austrian food! I got to catch up with the other Aussies in the under 23's team and we spent a couple of afternoons looking around Oetz. Most of the week was cold so we went to the Aqua Dome, which is this massive indoor pool area! There were these great spas located outside that we sat in and enjoyed the view of snowcapped alps! fantastic! We also went luging down one the biggest tracks in the world. It took us a good 20 minutes to get to the top on the lift chairs!

We also walked up to the lake above the river and the boys did some spectacular jumping off rocks! But i was there to race and training went pretty well during the week, although i was always tired after the sessions, as the water was pretty powerful. Unfortunately my racing was not as good as i had hoped. Fulls earlier in the week was pormising, but then my racing was shocking. I had a hopeless 2nd run on the first day, probably one of the worst i have ever done! Just stupid things led to three 50s.... not good! The 2nd day started off badly again with a stupid mistake leading to yet again another 50. My last run was all about redeeming myself, which i did, so i was a little bit happier by the end of the day.

Now i am in Krakow! Mike Dawson and I drove up on Sunday night.. well with a stop in Salzburg and then we made it to Krakow on the Monday after a total of 13hours in the car! Mammoth trek, but its great to be here! The main town is beautiful and the square is amazing, we have been out for some more coffee and cake in town.... this probably wont be happening so much when i get back home!!

Racing starts on Saturday for me with qualifiactions. It is going to be pretty tough to get through to semis as there is only 15 girls or something in the class. But neverless i have been training well and it feels a little like Penrith so im feeling stong again and getting better grip on the water than i was at Oetz! Mike and I are the only paddlers from the southern hemisphere! Representing!! We are off to the team leaders meeting tonight! heehh should be interesting! The Swiss and the Irish have adopted me and mike so its been good! So hopefully if all goes well i will be racing on Sunday as well and then hitting up the nightlife in Krakow on Sunday night!

Monday ill head back to Ausgburg with Mike and Aaron, so back to the good old GER!
