The last three weeks of my trip were manic to say the least!!
Not a whole lot of paddling has been done after the race in Krakow, which didnt go my way! But i had the best time hanging out with everyone and i learnt alot about what kind of paddler i need to be and how much work is ahead of me! Thanks to hannah for apdopting me on the Irish team for the week!!
After Krakow me and Mike drove back to Augsburg and spent a nice couple of days relaxing at the apartment we got in the middle of town and paddling! The boys were going home on Thursday so i chose to go to Ireland and Nottingham for a couple of days! So off i went and was picked up in Dublin by Rob and Keiran for my first stop of the week! We met Hannah for lunch then Rob and Keiran took me to town to have a look around for the afternoon! Dublin is a pretty cool town with some really nice buildings!! After that i went back we went and saw a movie then back to Hannahs for a good sleep before i flew to Nottingham in the morning!!
Hannah dropped me at the airport nice and early for my 4 day fling in Nottingham! Tom was nice enough to pick me up and i spent 4 realxing days in Notts. Most was spent with Kim in her nice new apartment and it was really great to see her after such a long time!! I watched a night head to head slalom which was awsome!!! It was exciting racing under the notts night and Kim was good enough to win it so she celebrated with a bottle of champange afterwards!! Well done Kim!
I also got to go for a paddle on the course, which cost me a mint, but was fun! Its really boily water and i was pretty out of it to start with and then started to get used to it after a while! I hope to be able to go back there again!
After a couple of days i flew back to Ireland for another evening and before flying back to Germany the next day! Hannah and I chilled out in the evening and in the morning we went out for a Irish breaky of sausage and egg! It was great to catch up and have some time off training for the week!
Back the Munich that night and i changed my flight without any problems for the next week! So i headed back to Ausgburg to my home away from home, Tommy and Fritzis!
I met Toad, Ash, Bruce and Gina there and it was nice to catch up with what they have been up to for the last week! The next day we headed to the Augsburg Zoo and checked out the animals! That night me, Toad and Ash hit up Octoberfest!! What a massive night! After devouring some chickens and pretzals we tried to find a seat!! An hour and a half later we finally found a table with some cool old people, one that looked like Ray Romano from Everybody loves Raymond in 20 years time! It was scary! 2 one litre beers later i was feeling pretty good and happily cheersing the 10 guys that were sitting on the table next to us. The night was over quite early as we got back to the station to catch the 11pm train back to Augsburg!
The next day we travelled to Bad Kreuztnach where we spent the weekend eating lots of food, sitting on the riverbank, drinking beer and having a great time paddling! Me, Ash and Toad even pulled out some great Australian teams runs!! It was a lovely weekend, and thanks to all those people that gave us some gear to paddling in!
I had one day back in Augsburg to go into town, get my gear packed and get myself to the airport! I was a little nervous about taking all my luggage home, and luckily enough i got onto the plane without paying any excess baggage!
Anyways im now back at home, and jet lag is yet to hit me..... but its only a matter of time!!!
