Tassie Trails

Well hey everybody!!

Im finally back to blogging after a two and a half week tour of Tasmania! What a trip!! I arrived on the 5th and went straight into coaching some kids for the Australian schools championships! My group consisted of 12 and unders and they did so well and im so proud of them!! I was coaching the youngest competitor at 8 years of age!! Woo hoo!! Unfortunatly my hype about my kids was not too long lived!

On Tuesday morning, three days into the trip I had a car accident, and wrote off my car! I came around a corner which was wet and the car started to slide. The car then started to fishy and we ended up hitting a rock wall at 30km/h and mounting a rock and rolling onto the top of the car! After being stuck upside down in a car I definately dont want to do it again any time soon! Also seeing my best friend Emmie and my sister strapped to Spinal boards and hauled off the hospital was not a very nice expereince!! Our boats were unfortunately on the car and the girls were fine but my beautiful boat copped some car and had some nice healthy cracks in it!! Poor little thing!!

On a good note we are all fine and only came out of the crash with sore necks and shoulders, apart from that lack of sleep was the only other problem!! So yeah that was the hlighlight and the lowlight of the trip!! It was really great that everyone helped with transporting gear as we had no car anymore and I thank them so much!! It is great that the paddling community help each other so much and I really appreciate all the people that came too see us after and all the well wishes!

After the big 'incident' we had to more onto the Mersey river for nationals! Unfortunately i didnt paddle as well as I had hoped , but considering what had happened a week earlier it wasnt that bad!! NSW cleaned up with the trophy's and the club I belong to won the overall champion trophy for the third year running!! woo hoo!

After a week at the Mersey it was time to move on to Brady's Lake where we will have Australian team selections!! It is a fast flwoing big river, which is very fun! Especially the top part of the course called the Cruncher!! hehe fun times and the weather was brilliant, normally it is freezing cold and thats what we are expecting in April for selection..... yuk!!

Finally home now and happy to be here except for the impending heat!! it is supposed to be 37 degrees today!! So i might go try and find someone with some air con!! Catch ya
